What kind of Valentines Day flower would you suggest?

My church's Youth group and I were planning on passing out flowers on Valentines Day at a local nursing home. Unfortunately, most flowers (especially roses like we were planning) get really expensive that time of year. And we're a poor crowd. What kind of flower would you suggest? [The LA's garden district isn't too far away from us, so if you happen to know a good deal from there--]
