I really want a flower garden. Anything I can plant right now?

In my new house is a quasi greenhouse. Well, it used to be. Now it is just this weird room between the outside and my room. It has two doors on either side that must remain open (for the sake of the pets). Anywho, I want to plant flowers in here. Well, I wanted veggies, but with all the animals... So are there any flowers that I can plant in jan? Ok. So it is a little cold. During the days 45 and at night closer to 20.

  1. We need to know the temperatures in your quasi greenhouse. If you aren't going below freezing, you could grow pansies, snapdragons, ornamental kale (probably available in your local greenhouses) You could sow poppies. Lisianthus is another plant, but after it germinates it has to sit for 2-3 months without growing, it's very easy to mess up during this strange hibernation. Peas would be fun now. Another plant that will do well, you'd have to get it as a plant, is cyclamen. It loves the cooler temperatures.
  2. Depends where you live and if this quasi greenhouse has walls or not. If it is exposed to the elements of the weather and you live where it is below freezing (32 degrees), the answer is no to planting anything in January. It really depend on what zone area you live in assuming you live in the USA. I would do a google search for outiside plants for your area.
  3. It depends on your zone you live in and if you have control of the temperature of the greenhouse i hope this helps.
  4. iI would advise you to wait for the spring because the ground would thaw and freeze throughout the winter and the plant will most likely not get the chance to settle in
  5. It's pretty cold in there to plant anything now. If you're desperate you might be able to get some pansies, snapdragons, or flowering kale from the home center. I doubt any seeds will sprout. Is there dirt in there or do you have to plant in pots? You could try to get a jump on the season by planting seeds for sweet peas, they won't mind being planted so early and they'll come up when it's a little warmer.
  6. Garlic and onions and rhubarb
  7. there's a few types of bulbs that you could plant during this time year so they come this coming spring and enjoy the flowering
  8. Plant pansy and kale they are the most cold resistant annuals. Garden centers will also soon have pots with crocus, daffodils, and tulips already growing and about to bloom. They should survive in a room that is just above freezing, and you can plant the bulbs outside later for next year.
