Mail order Bride?

Has anyone had any experiences with this? I just think it's crazy to think someone meets someone from a catalogue ready to be a wife. Not that its wrong, I think I'm looking to hear that it actually happens!

1. My husband has two work mates who are married to an asian and a russian women. The women are happy and glad to be stateside with all the opportunities. So far so good for all involved.
2. My great uncle did it. Married 45 yrs to her too.
3. I heard it does and I do think its nuts!! Anyone that needs to buy their bride has issues! I can't imagine that anyone of those marriages last in a happy way!
4. personally, i dont like that idea.. but there are a lot of people who are engaged with this already... uhm some maybe lucky enough, but i believe some doesn't..... i even heard before that she was a battered wife :( you can't even fully trust the person you are with, how much more those whom you meet online only.....
5. I think its nuts too but, if it works for other people then it would not surprise me...I just could not marry someone who I didn't know or fell in love with...It ruins the whole magic to me....
6. Many of these male order brides are looking only for an easy way to become a US citizen. Some even are up front about it and are willing to play the part for a short while after the marriage until thier status is confirmed here. Then comes an annulment or quicky divorce. It's the ones you don't see coming, those who don't warn you up front that cause the problems, and there are more than a fair share of those. This is especially true if they have a history of prostitution in thier homeland and think they can work the system here and are usually trained by the local Mafioso of thier homeland for a fee. A lot of them make excuses once married about needing to get thier families here and have you sink your money into achieving them do that. Some of them are very picky about marrying wealthy men here just for the opportunity to cash in on alimony so t hey can use it to start thier own business. The ones that work out best are those in which you actually go to the home country first and meet the potential bride and deal with a respectable agency as the mediator.
7. A guy I used to date, his father had a mail order bride. She married him and came to the US had his baby and then told the state he was beating her. They never slept in the same bed, she took the daughter that they had together and moved out with another mail order bride she knew in the area. The worst part? He has to be responsible for herfor the next 5-10 years or until she decides to marry again since he brought her over to the US and signed some documents saying he will not allow her to be a burden finanically on the US government. Anyways, I'm glad some people have had great experiences, at ;least it sounds like its working for some people.
8. I think that's weird. A good relationship can't be gotten from mail.
