Where can I get free vegetable seeds for a garden?

To teach my 4 small children the vaue of hard work and the benefits we are going to plant a garden of vegetables and am looking for free seeds. If anyone could let me know where to look or willing to send me some of their extras please let me know.. Much appreciation!!! God Bless.

  1. You could try your local county extension agent. Or ask local farmers and food growers if they can spare some vegetables (from which you would get the seeds,) or seed packets they didn't use last year.
  2. Some small packs of seeds won't cost you an arm and a leg, but having your children put in the effort, and then have nothing come up to show for it, is a lesson that is sure to backfire. I don't recommend that you rely on left overs or freebies for this project. The main thing is to plant crops they like to eat.
  3. you can get free vegetable seeds from foods you eat such as tomatoes, egg plants, and watermelons. It is also possible to ask some one with a garden if they have any seeds to spare some. I usually store up a few hundred seeds just in case I need them which come from my garden.
