Free Garden Catalogs

If co2 is the problem why dont we all plant trees 2 or three in every back yard should do it?

The trees should be indigenous so we dont change other things, kept out of the hands of big companys so no massive forrests. the back yard or garden will sort out that problem the public will to do something is high, seeds are free why dont we all just do it Seems nobody cares, where else should I ask this question

  1. We could do it with trees, but we'd need about three times as many as we've got now. That takes into account the remaining forests so 2 or 3 in every back yard wouldn't be enough. Turning the neighbourhood into a forest would help. What we really need is a project for reforesting large areas like the Sahara Desert (it was forest 5,000 years ago). That would cost billions - nearly as much as America's adventures in the Middle East.
  2. good idea but it is not enough.
  3. you see the problem with tree is that they don't really produce enough oxygen they only account for about 10 or 15 % of the earth oxygen the majority of oxygen is produced by algae and plankton
  4. I completely agree with you. Of course it is not possible for people who live in apartments etc. that do not have access to a garden, but a lot of people have gardens and they don't have any trees! The government should fund a "plant a tree" program or something. EDIT: Okay, I see the point that other people have made, which is that planting a few trees is not enough and that trees only account for a small portion of the oxygen produced (although I thought the point was to remove CO2). But every little bit helps, right? We shouldn't just do nothing because it won't be enough - every little step gets us closer to effectively helping the environment.
