Does anyone know where I could get free Seeds in or sent to Florida?
My husband and I both work and still cannot pay bills, never mind feed our family of 4, yet because we both work we cannot get help from any government agency. I need to start a garden. Ive been saving scraps from everywhere and composting because we cannot afford fertilizer but we dont have any seeds to plant. We live in Florida so the growing season is soon and Ive come up empty handed on search engines. Any help will be appreciated. Also any tips on organic gardening, Im a first-timer. Thanks.

- You can go to: http://www.njtomato.com/seeds.html for free tomatoe seeds, but you have to send them a self addressed envelope with a stamp on it, plus a $1.00 Shipping and Handling. Also I would try going to a farmer's market near you, those people are usually pretty nice and might be willing to let you have a couple seeds here and there to start you're own garden. Hope this helps!
- Firstly, I'm down in Australia. You might try some of your magazines, they sometimes have give aways, Your Absolute BEST BET, is Your Neighbours! Most neighbours are decent enough to Give some seeds or even cuttings if asked nicely. It's a form of Flattery that You want a garden like theirs! You can save seeds yourself from vegetables you buy to eat. Some are treated & will be useless, but you will Always have Some success! You can Pick wildflowers about to go to seed & sow them. People will wonder how you got such a display when they bloom!! Believe Me! (just don't get caught picking what you're not allowed to pick, & I didn't tell you to, alright?) Starting a garden with Nothing is easier than you may think. The Hard part is being patient enough to know & accept thatit will not all happen at once, but it Will Happen. Good Luck. We're celebrating Australia Day here, today. Must Run. The Lamb on the barby's almost ready for the taste test again!! (I'm assistant to the cook today. I'm not allowed to turn or baste only Taste Samples to see when it's done. I'm happy to Stay Assistant!) Bye Bye. P.S. A Really Good & Cheap Fertilizer to use is Human Waste! Processed is cleanest, but if you have a septic tank, you can put a pump in so that it empties out out onto your garden but well underground. Neighbours Will complain If there is Any Smell,or If they know what you're doing. They'll imagine the rest. Next time you buy grapes or citrus etc, from Australia, Just think of all the Australians who 'contributed' to the fertilizer used to grow that bit of fruit in your mouth!!! See, unless told, you'd never have known!
- Some garden stores throw out plants that are out of date or almost dead. Go begging, ask the manager. Go dumpsterdiving. Walmart throws out huge numbers of plants when they rotate stock. Go on a local chat room or bulletin board, the kind sponsored by your newspaer and tv station. Ask for old seeds. lots of folks have last year or 5 year seeds they never got around to planting. While you're at it ask for canning jars
- Go to your local food bank or charity thrift store and tell them your problem . I am sure they will guide you to the right place. Also try the churches in your area. Last but not least the Dollar store .
- What kind of tomatoe seeds are you looking for? And do you want any kind of other seeds. I will be happy to send you some. I will make sure they get in the mail by tomorrow morning. NO CHARGE I have a little greenhouse in my yard, and I collect different kinds of seeds from all over the world.
