In Oklahoma when and how do I plant tomato seeds?

I want to know the procedure for planting tomato seeds to have plants ready to set out in the garden in April.

1. You can plant them in early March indoors. I get the starting kits at Walmart that have a plastic dome. After they sprout, remove the dome and keep them under grow lights or regular old fashioned fluorescent bulbs. Keep the light source close to the plants. They need to be warm and moist but not overly wet. Good ventilation is important too. If you have a fan to put in the area, it helps them to grow stronger stems. I usually have to repot them into bigger pots at least once before time to go outside. April is probably too early to put them outdoors. The ground has to be warm over night for them to thrive. Mid to late May is fine. There is no advantage to putting them out too early. When you plant them, you can remove a couple lower leaves and plant very deep so they will grow strong roots. Good luck!
