  3. Hi: I have planted thousands of herb seeds in a greenhouse as well as indoors. Most herbs will take anywhere from one to two weeks to sprout up. Once they start germinating, they will become plugs. The plugs will need to develop their root systems. You don't want to put the herbs outside until the ground temperature is warm enough. After the last frost. I live in zone seven and I never put the herbs out until the beginning to mid April. I plan on starting my culinary seeds in the next week indoors. I will link you to the herb and spice section of my website. There is a page on growing herbs from seeds. This should help you get started. Some herbs such as Basil will germinate better in darkness. For best results if you are germinating inside, make sure you know the light requirements. I will also link you to the site map as this has everything that is on the website. Browse through and see if you can find some other tips for you herb garden. There are many different articles as well as techniques of planning - prepping and planting a garden. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me at the website. Best of luck to you and I imagine you will cook some wonderful dishes this year with your fresh herbs.
