Birds eating my sunflowers!?
I hate birds. They crap all over the house, they crap all over the cars, they crap on my head at the beach and flock around you so you can't enjoy your vacation. They wake me up early in the morning before the sun even comes up, and now... ... they are eating my sunflowers. Now I love my sunflowers. Large, detailed, colorful, very beautiful. Some species I can even gather the seeds for consumption and cooking. Nothing makes me more angry than walking out into my garden to find my beautiful sunflowers all torn up and half eaten. How can I stop these disgusting monsters from eating my sunflowers???? I want them, dead or alive, to leave my sunflowers alone. I've heard of placing mesh over the flower heads, but that's a last resort for me because what is the use to have nice looking flowers if you're just gonna cover them up with ugly mesh bags. I prefer the shotgun method, but I don't really wanna scare the neighbors. :) I've tried sprnkiling pepper over the flower heads, too and that didn't work either.

- you have 2 options. 1st cover with a net to stop the birds or 2nd sit there with a shotgun and blast the bleeders
- You know those mesh bags that onions are packed in? Gather those up and put them over the flower part of the sun flower so the birds cannot get to the seeds. Otherwise, stand out there with a scatter gun and .....
- That just happens to be their favorite food! The mesh thing is your best bet.
- Plant enough sunflowers for you and the birds to enjoy.
- Pepper or hot sauce has no effect on birds !!! They have no taste buds or sensitive mouth parts. That's why you can use it in bird seed to discourage squirrels. Scarecrows, aluminum pie pans, aluminum strips, water cannons, air cannons, fake owls, bright flashy streamers etc etc are all options and none work well. It's what birds do. Try to out plant them ...
- yOU CAN'T STOP THEM FROM EATING YOUR SUNFLOWER SEEDS THATS WHY MOST PEOPLE PLANT THEM IS FOR THE BIRDS COVER THEM WITH MESH...
