Herbs keep going to seed???
I enjoy gardening and love cooking with fresn herbs, BUT my herbs keep going to seed quite early after they mature into a nice full grown plant. Is there any way to stop them going to seed??? I'm from New Zealand and our Summer is just about to start.

- cut them back in growing stage
- My parnets like to do the same thing. They have to cut off the flowers, I have no idea where they learned that from but try it.
- Before they mature, try pinching off the tops of the shoots. This will cause side growth of the plants and they have to start maturing all over again. Also, by generating lots of side shoots, you'll get a better yield from your plants. BTW - this is the time of year that lots of plants naturally flower. As daylight times decrease with winter coming, this kicks a lot of plants into a bloom cycle, as they have to get their seeds matured before the cold winter. So, these herb plants will more easily go to seed at this time of year.
