are mail order catalogues responsible for their pricing?

i found something on a catalogue that has a rediculously low price. if i call in and the catalogue backs down from the price can i fight it?

  1. Sure can.
  2. Look on the catalog - somewhere in fine print will be a disclaimer stating that they are not responsible for printing errors. It can't hurt to try to fight it, but it would be a long shot.
  3. There is usually some kind of disclaimer in there about the pricing changing at any time. If they say the price went up or it's a typo what can you do? That said, sometimes a store will honor pricing that that was accidentally too low. It shows goodwill and makes customers want to return. A ridiculously low price can also serve as a loss leader (something priced ridiculously low just to get you into the store).
