Free Garden Catalogs

Anyone know where I can find prop catalogs for the theatre?

I'm in a prop class and I'm looking for places online that I can request free catalogs for props... anyone know where I can go?

  1. Since most theatrical productions are on a tight budget, props often are found objects - things from everyday life that are donated or purchased as needed. Once your company has amassed many of them, YOU *catalog* them - you keep a record of what you have, and where it is stored, and when it was last used - and if it is signed out now. I am sorry that I cannot help you more with a specific PURCHASE catalog - but we would always just ask around like, "We need two frypans, an old radio, a stuffed dog, and a yellow umbrella." They'd be brought in eventually - or we would hit the Goodwill stores.
  2. It's difficult to find a company that sells every type of prop on-line. Most props are found.. at yard sales, junk yards, antique shops and wherever the property buyer can locate the item. Most of the online companies I've worked with specialized in "hard to find at the garage sale" types of items - period pieces, weapons, etc. Other items are often made on commission. Something I had hoped to do at one time but there just wasn't enough work in my area as most threatre had they own props department. Weapons: http://www.stage-props-blank-guns.com/ Foam Props: http://www.chisel3d.com/ Swords & Weapons: http://blog.replicadungeon.com/ Variety of Items: http://www.props4shows.co.uk/ Clown Props: http://www.peacheykeene.com/ Just google the specific item you're looking for and you shouldn't have toooo much trouble finding someone who sells it online or on ebay.
