Free Garden Catalogs

What common parts catalogs do Bicycle shops use when ordering parts?

What are the best places to buy parts through the mail with a comprehensive print catalog listing all parts and part numbers? Thanks! I don't need to be schooled with the business behind it. I have a company that can create accounts with various companies, I just want to know what those companies are. I am not the general public looking to save a buck. I plan to create a lasting relationship with these companies.

  1. i forget what it is called, there is one, but they don;t deal with onesy twosies smiths maybe [[though they may not do 'print' any more]] you are best off with nashbar or performance bike, they are used to helping folks through the process via phone they can order from the big catalog if necessary or - go to a bike store! you won;t pay any less even if you knew what to order, and could order from the big shop catalog wle
  2. The parts distributors used by bike shops do not usually sell to the public. Various distributors will be the agents for [articular product lines. There will be no one distributor who carries everything. Stores will have accounts with various distributors and will order on a regular basis. Large distributors do not want the expense of selling to the general public, and if they did they would soon lose the store's business. They leave that to the online retailers. No store will deal with a distributor who undercuts their profits by selling to the public. To order from distributors, you have to have an account, you have to establish credit, and they may not want to deal with you unless you buy a minimum amount every year
  3. Apparently you do need to be schooled or you wouldn't be asking this question, I'm sorry to say. This is one of those questions where you need to be in that business to know the answer. Kind of a vicious circle. Some might give you names but that won't do a thing for your ability to order. I WILL give you a name of a company that'll sell you their consumer catalog which is identical to their wholesale catalog but without any prices... the cost is about $140-160. That company is Quality Bicycle Products at http://qbp.com but you will have to purchase the catalog through an authorized dealer. Note that QBP is very picky to whom they might sell things and some items may not be available to you in certain areas. You will find that QBP is also very close to most online pricing available to consumers even though they allege wholesale. There is only one real way to buy at a price that is below available online sources, and that is direct from the manufacturer or agent, all which require minimum order quantities AND prepayment.
