Perennial Garden plants..which are best for a narrow area?

I am planning to plant some perennials in a narrow garden along a walkway to our front door. It's only about 2 feet wide and the house next door is quite close. What would look good in this situation? It is mostly sunny. That's the problem..I'm not sure what would look good. We'd like privacy between us and the next home, but I don't want it to look "tacky"

  1. more things to consider..sun ? shade?both? what time of day for sun or shade am/pm/ how tall do you want the plants? do you want something that grows tall and narrow and can plant a ground cover under it. do you care if it flowers and for how long? tell me more and i can help you out no problem.
  2. You might get day lilies that bloom all summer. These will spread then you can pull some and transplant to fill the whole walk. You could also use hostas and plant some annuals in between them for more color.
