Flower gardening ideas?

I know nothing about gardening so info please. Next spring I want to plant some flowers in the front yard. I have 3 areas in which to plant. There is a small planting area on the side of the house next to the car port. There is one of those big square wood areas out front that you can plant in. Then theres is a rectangle area in front of the porch where I wanted to put a bunch of flowers and those cute garden pebbles.

1. Guess what?! October and November are the months to plant the bulbs to have those annual colorful flowers in the spring, so I suggest you head over to your fav store (even lowes or home depot) and get many of your favorite bulbs for flowers, the bigger bulbs go in the back since the flower will be bigger and the small or shorter flowers go in the front. Enjoy gardening, its a relaxing hobby.
2. It's time to weed and turn the dirt in these garden beds. Then add a few bags of compost to the soil.mixing it in. There may be daffodil bulbs in the gardens already if you just moved in, so be careful when digging. They look like small onions and will of gone by last spring.
