Is sending free catalogs to someone else's house illegal?

Our neighbors destroyed one of our trees and we had to call an arborist in to correct the damage. They never apologized and acted like total jerks about the whole thing. To get it out of my system I had a bunch of free catalogs sent to their house. Now they are upset and threatening to call the police. I think what I did was annoying but hardly illegal. Your thoughts?
