There is a neighborhood cat that keeps using my flower garden as a litter box?
Does anyone have any humane suggestions on how to keep it out of my flower garden? Thank you.

- Buy a dog.
- moth balls will work
- You can lay chicken wire down and cover it with dirt. Cats won't go where they can't dig.
- Call animal control and tell them about the problem, they will probably come get the cat.
- water pistol / super soaker and spray the cat a little bit when you see it in your garden
- perhaps try a sprinkler or something cats dont like- dont be cruel just mark your stand so perhaps for now even put plastic around the area
- You can use a cheap motion sensor alarm to scare him off when he comes. Just point it at his favorite spot and hopefully the first few times will work. But if you're unsure about other things setting if off, (birds, squirrels, etc.) then if you're willing to sit guard with a water pistol that works too.
- Mix some used coffee grounds in with the soil and it will repel the cats but won't hurt them. also will fertilize plants at same time. I save the used grounds in a plastic container, and when it is full we spread it around the plants and shrubs and the cats and deer both stay away. We do this about every 2 weeks.
- You can try some of the "commercial" deterrent products which most contain Cayenne Pepper or you can sprinkle the powder around your garden, mix it with water to make a spray or you can put orange peels around the garden. Cat's aren't fond of orange. I hope these suggestions are of some help to you.
- Find out who owns it and report them to animal control. If it doesn't have a collar and ID, trap or catch it and take it to the SPCA.
- There are several products on the market that will keep cats our of the plants. They will hot hurt the cats, but will be repelling to them. Usually something you spray or granules you sprinkle around I think.
- The outdoor cats use mine and the flowers come up big and strong, not an issue here. However, there is a product that's a cat repellent, it's offered with a money back guarantee, is made from plant oils and one application lasts a month or so, even through rain. Our gardening supplement gave it big thumbs up. Just google 'messina wildlife' and go to the cat repellent bar on the left side of the screen. It's affordable.
