Maths Question about Volume?

Flower Garden there is a exam happening and that im currently doing a practise test. Could you please help with these questions and put the explanation and soulution so i know what i went wrong. Mark and Helen are planning a rectangular flower garden with a 1m wide path around it. If the flower garden is 8m long and 2m wide, calculate its area. (don't worry about this one i already done it) Calculate the area of the path around the garden bed. Mark wants to spread 0.2m of mulch around the flower garden. Calculate the volume of mulch that this would use. If the path is made from 0.2m thick concrete, calculate the volume of concrete needed to build the path. Lastly....Helen plan to keep the same area of flower garden, but reduce the amount of concrete needed. if the path around the garden is sill 1m wide, find the dimensions of a garden that would suit Helens plan. Really appreciated if you guys could help

  1. area of flower garden = 8x2 = 16 area of path = area of path and garden - area of garden (path adds 1m on each side so add 2 to length and 2 to width) = (8+2) * (2+2) - 16 = 10 * 4 - 16 = 40 -16 = 24 sq. meters volume of mulch on garden =area * height = 16 * .2 = 3.2 cubic meters volume of concrete = area of path * height = 24 * 0.2 = 4.8 cubic meters new flower garden size. You want to get the smallest perimeter for the same area. a square provides the smallest perimeter for the same area. so the dimensions should be 4x4.
