How to repel Cabbage White Butterfly from my garden?

I used to think the pest I was dealing with was called the Cabbage Moth, but now I realise that it's actually the Cabbage White Butterfly in my garden. Does anyone know any ways to repel this annoying creature without using sprays or other chemicals? For example, types of plants/weeds/herbs/etc that would repel the butterfly? Thanks everyone!

  1. My dog Maggie. She is a cross between a liver and white springer spaniel and a long haired golden retriever, came out black and white, looking like a small red setter. She is a ferocious butterfly hunter!
  2. There is a powder called 7 that works.
  3. I used netting bought at the fabric store. It only needs to go over plants like cabbages and broccoli. You will need to check for caterpillars before you place the net over the plants. It is the caterpillars that are doing the damage. Just pull the caterpillar off the plant. It is alot cheaper to buy than a chemical. I don't think there is anything you can plant that will discourage them.
  4. They nearly destroyed my broccoli..Hate them! I got some neem oil from the garden center and really soaked the leaves..It has made a HUGE difference! It's too late for my plants now, but now that I have it on hand, look out next year!
