my vegetable garden is looking ill, what can I do?
I plant a garden every year, last summer wasn't the best, but florished before leaves started yellowing and bitten up by the japanese beattle. I did put milky spore down to help rid them, I know it can take years to really work, but this year my vegetable plants are looking ill, and starting to yellow and brown spot near the base?? What's going on? HELP!!

- The soil may be too acidic and lack vital organic material. Ideally, you should conduct a soil test six months before planting and amend the soil with supplements to achieve a balance of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and ph. It might be too late now to accomplish all this but you can't go wrong augmenting compost into the soil and building a doughnut around the base of each plant. This will retain moisture and slowly release nutrients so surface roots can metabolize. Consult your local extension service or soil and water conservation district. They can help you identify local practices common to the soils in your area.
