What are some good green favor ideas?

I've already seen/thought of herb garden/flower seeds. I also like the idea of a reusable canvas bag, but I'm a bit turned off because they're pretty big bags and filling them with something would be a pain. Having a creativity block ... Any eco-friendly ideas? Thanks.

  1. You can get little plants that are only a couple dollars each, which I think is great too cause it's symbolic of your new life together.
  2. You can buy these cool little paper shapes that have wild flower seeds sewn into them. You plant them whole. You can get charity ones where money goes towards something good too - we're using breast cancer ones as my future MIL had it (she's cool with us doing this). This link is for a UK site that lists some ideas - but I am sure you can find them all over the US/Canada too. http://www.greenunion.co.uk/weddings/8080gifts_favours/index.html EDIT: Here is a US site: http://www.icestandard.org/categories/view/1880/green-wedding-favors.html and http://www.littlethingsfavors.com/ecgrwefa.html

  4. Take the money that you would spend on favors and donate that money to a green "cause" or non-profit organization or to the local Parks and Recreation Department to purchase a tree. You can put a memo similar to this on your guest book table or gift table or in the ceremony program. 5. They have the cards that are actual flower seeds. I saw them for mothers day. The card itself has this design in it that is actually the flower seeds. You just bury he card and there you go. Maybe do a single fresh flower for each guest with the seed thank you cards attached Just an idea.
  6. target right now has those tiny plants with seeds to, well, grow. they also have the silver tins and the small cream/milk pourers. also, michaels craft store carries the lil clay pots, maybe wrap green tissue paper round one, seal it with a address label of your wedding name and date and toss some seeds in it with a lil filler soil . maybe write, may these seeds grow and flourish like our love did. good luck. oh, some where on a bride show i saw where you can buy small small pine tree's to re plant. did you googgle ecofriendly weddings or eco friendly party favors. green favors? good luck. love to know if i helped. happy wedding. mine is in 32 days near about.
  7. I have often compared love to a vine. A single vine can be vibrant and growing doing well as an independent being, but when it becomes entwined with another vine, both vines become stronger by the support they each receive from, and give to, the companion vine. Perhaps you could write that out nicely on a card and give everyone a small ivy plant. Ivy is very easy to propagate if you don't want to buy a whole lot of them. Just get a few larger plants, clip the vines into six inch lengths and root in water. Then plant each rooting in a small pot. You could probably get some small, cute pots at a dollar store or a place like Big Lots if there's one near you.
  8. small plants are very cute
