How do you keep foreign plants from growing in a moss garden?

I have moss growing on our rock walkway and we have planted grass close by and seems to want to keep coming up through the moss. I don't think it's hurting it, but it's taking away from the look we are trying to achieve. Any way to keep it from growing? And any way to remove the current plants from the moss without picking out every single plant individually? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

1. What type of grass did you plant. If it is zoysia or bermuda then you will continually have problems with them coming up in your moss and there is no much you can do. Then also when you said you planted grass. Did you plant grass seed. It is very possible that you just got some seeds into the moss and as you pull them out they will not return. There really isn't any way to control the grass without just pulling it out. Any herbicide you spray on the grass will also hurt if not kill the moss. Some people say roundup will not kill moss but I would not bet on that. You can however use the swipe method with roundup on the grass. You put on a rubber or latex glove, then wet down a paper towel with roundup and wipe it on the grass being careful not to wipe it on the moss. That is not much easier than just picking out the grass.
