how would I apply a high gloss finish to MDF?

I'd like to apply a very high gloss finish to MDF, almost mirror like, like how you would see on those new modern kitchens like this one:http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/categories/departments/kitchen/ Is it possible to do without buying a tonne of specialist equipment? btw I do have a spray gun if that would be needed

1. Just use a foam brush and some gloss polyurethane. You will probably need a few coats. Lightly sand between coats.
2. The finishes in that picture would more than likely be a glued-on veneer or formica or other type of laminate.
