White and black tomatoes harder to grow?

I have seen them in seed catalogues, and would like to try some. I'm in zone 6b. Thanks! I saw them on this site: http://www.tomatogrowers.com/whites.htm

  1. I haven't seen them yet but I too am a sucker for something new. I would think the would be as easy to grow as any other. I'm not sure if they would be disease resistant or even taste like a tomato but give them a try and find out. What catalog ? RScott
  2. The short answer is that varieties developed for your zone will do better in your zone. For example, if you live in a cold climate and you try to plant an heirloom tomato variety that thrives in California, your results will be more disappointing than if you plant a tomato that thrives in Upstate New York. So read those descriptions carefully... they should give you some info about what type of climate each type of tomato does best in. And even if you get less-than-stellar results, it can still be worth it to try them anyway.
