Can you grow pomegranites in Wisconsin?

I just recieved my first seed catalogue in the mail and in it they have pomegranite plants for $9.99. I guess they are potted and you can take them inside when the weather gets cold. Has anyone ever tried to grow these in Wisconsin?

  1. Yes, you can grow those in pots, as long as you bring them inside in the winter. I'm in Wisconsin too. I have one of those pomegranate trees (probably from the same mail order catalog). Got it in 2006. It came in a tiny pot and was just maybe 4 inches tall. I repotted it right away into something larger, and kept it in a sheltered spot over the summer. It did put on some blooms but no fruit. It's now about a foot tall and very branched, in a 12" pot, flowering profusely. It has not set fruit. I've read an article mentioning that in order to set fruit, it will need HEAT. Our house is kept at 67F in the winter, so, no fruit. Next winter I'll get a heat lamp!
