Has any of you ever opened your own gift shop. I would like some advice please... Thanks!?

Items will include porcelain figurines, hand spun glass items, bird houses, home decor, etc... I want to start my own gift shop some day, but I can start with catalog sales. Does anyone have any advice for me?
