Mossburg shotgun question.?

I have a Mossburg pump action 12ga (600at). It also says New Haven on it. I purchased it from a pawn shop for home defense, and specifically got a shotgun in case my wife has to use it. It's a single shot, but it looks like it accepts a magazine for extra shots. Does anyone know if there's a magazine for it, and if so where can I find one (online or catalog maybe)? P.S. I live in Bella Vista, Arkansas, so if you know a gun shop in the area where I could find one, that would be perfect.)

  1. Your shotgun is not a single shot. It got a tubular magazine. Here's a little vid showing how to load a tubular magazine: http://youtube.com/watch?v=VAhS-vFTA5c PS: The person in the vid loaded the chamber with his first round. I would avoid the round in the chamber and only load the tubular magazine unless I planned to use the shotgun immediately.
  2. My dad has that exact same shotgun. It has the capacity for about five rounds, I believe. I like the Mossbergs because they have the safety right there on the tang of the stock, and the pump release is right behind the trigger guard, very handy. I think what you're referring to as a magazine well is actually the loading gate at the bottom of the receiver. You just push the shotgun shell into the gate and slide it forward into the magazine, plastic part first.
  3. The 600AT is a bottom eject/feed shotgun. The tube magazine holds 4 shells in 2 3/4 inch. When you work the slide the shotgun will pull a shell from the tube mag and lift it up into the chamber. when you work the slide again it will drop (eject) the shell out the bottom of the action. Just for my piece of mind, take it to a gun range and ask the range master to teach you to shoot it and clean it properly. It will be worth the money you spend for the lesson and the ammo.
  4. Please god before you put any ammo in that weapon go here and request the owner's manual for it http://www.mossberg.com/content.asp?ID=520&section=service They send you the owners manaul for free take full advantage of this so you don't have an accident!
