  1. you should label different parts of your garden for different parts of the year that you plant them and try different watering systems i would try february
  2. Plant them in the ground after the last frost in the spring. You can start them inside 4-5 weeks before transplanting seedlings into the ground. The important thing is not letting the plants freeze. Water them like any other garden plant. An inch of rain per week or the equivalent irrigation should be about right.
  3. first it depends on where you live.. February is probably ok if you live in the south. Otherwise- after the last frost. Here in the midwest its the end of April. Yes they need to be in soil. You can start them inside in a small pot before the last frost so they can get a head start for outside. Then plant them in a sunny spot and give them LOTS & LOTS of room!!! Water every other day (unless is super hot- then everyday).
  4. Lol, it depends where you are. The seeds should be sewn after the last winter freeze which often coincides with the start of April. Put them in small pots until established and then transfer at about five weeks. Moisture is a dificult one as it depends upon the soil type and other vegetation nearby. If it looks thirsty give a drink, otherwise leave. Many add too much water in the hope of a bigger pumpkin but often find that it splits in part/
