When is it the right time to plant corn in northern KY?
It will be for a home garden. How close should they be spaced, and can i just plant seeds with dead fish like the indians did? Or is there a better way now?

- Now is a good time, and if you're after organic nutrients, there is an excellent organic fish emulsion that you mix with water. Plant rows 16" apart and in the rows, plant your seeds 6" apart.
- I would plant anytime now, as soon as the soil isn't soggy. I've always wondered about the stories of Indians planting dead fish with their corn. I know they grew the corn in bunches, not in rows, but they still would have needed a heck of a lot of dead fish. Why didn't they eat the fish? <s> Corn takes a lot of nutrients from the soil. Unless you rotate corn with soy or something else that gives back nutrients, and then let the land lie fallow for a year in between, you are going to have to fertilize heavily. Any balanced fertilizer will do fine.
