Strawberry seeds recommendations?
I have never grown strawberries before. I don't have a good yard to put in a garden (too shady) so I am going to grow some veggies and such in pots and hanging baskets. Does anyone have any recommendations for a brand/type of seeds that don't need a lot of space, yet produce a good quantity/quality of berries? Preferably organic, and one that doesn't need full sun. Thanks for your help!

- Strawberry are bought by plants Go to Gurney.com The have the plants and Information that you need Good Luck
- You can go to HomeDepot or Lowe's to buy the plants sometime in March. They do very well in pots and hanging baskets. Becareful tho some plants take 2 years to full produce a lot of strawberries.
- You are asking for the impossible because all strawberries must have full sun. When planting strawberries you must use either bare root or potted plants as they can not be grown from seeds. Jewel is a very good producer and would give you the quantity you are looking for in a berry.
- Some of the other answers are incorrect saying that strawberries can't be grown from seeds. Of course the can be. I might suggest starting the seeds indoors then transplanting the seedlings outdoors when they have several leaves and are several inches tall and strong. However, strawberries do require full sun and are not great grown in pots. Strawberries really need to spread out. Not that strawberries are impossible to grow in pots just that it's not ideal. I have seed a topsy turvy planter type of set up for strawberries but don't know if it works well or not. (topsy turvy is the planter that grows tomato plants upside down). Good luck. http://getready2garden.com/
