When should i plant after the land was burnt.?

Our Neighbors are planting a garden, they burnt the small plot of land to rid it of weeds. How long should they wait to plant their seeds?

1. if it is already burnt off, go ahead and plant, nature is wonderful, seeds start as soon as they are planted, even after a forest fire, life begins, it's been that way for eons.
2. You should mix the ash into the top few inches of soil first. Ash can be a little caustic you wouldn't want to burn the little plants. But by all means plant away.
