when is the best time to plant an herb garden in Ca from seed?
i want to plant a small herb garden and try it from seed. i was just wondering when the best time is to plant them for the best chance at survival. the only place i can plant is outside on a porch and in a planter box. i live in the bay area of california, so the weather can get cool, but not severe.

- It is best to start you seeds indoors. Place the seeds in small pots and keep them on a windowsill. Once they sprout then grow for a week or two then you can transplant them outdoors. If you start your seeds at the beginning of February then by the time they are ready to transplant the weather should be warm enough for them outdoors. Herbs lend themselves readily to being grown in containers so you will not have any problems growing them.
