What the best gift you have ever recieved and or given? (not romantic. for family members)?

I have no idea what to get my mom or dad for christmas. if this helps: My mom like gardening, pretty things and cooking. shes somewhat spiritual and is an herbalist. My dad is a nature person too. Loves the out doors. Very practical person. think a little more then "get your mom gardening gloves and a basket with seeds and tools" and "get your dad a hiking stick" or things along thoes lines. Last year I got my mom a copper heart wind chime from gaiam and my dad a cherry pit neck pillow that you can heat in the microwave.

1. The best gift I recieved (besides a romantic present) for Christmas was my dog, Trixie. She is now 7 and I love her! I don't know if your parents would be big on pets, though. You could always make a donation to a charity through their name, such as to an environmental/conservation charity. Or, you could get them some camping supplies -- like a tent, sleeping bags, etc.
2. my has some of the same interests and i'm making him custom-made protein/grain bars. www.youbars.com/buildabar --maybe you could do one for each of them suiting their tastes. last year i bought (well some were ripped from the library) books on cd and put them together onto data cds (for space reasons) with a small portable cd player/boombox style thing that played mp3s, very non-ipod parent friendly. but it was cd books of some of our favorite spiritual writers so my parents could listen while gardening/cooking/cleaning etc.
3. I would suggest the herb garden that grows in the dome for mom. Not sure of the name but you can find it as Boscovs under seen on TV section. As for you dad I would suggest getting a hammock. He can relax and enjoy the outdoors at the same time
