Please help me need help.?

My husband and I are moving into our first house. I am looking to make the front beautiful with various types of flowers. I can not find any pictures of just everyday people and their gardens. Does anyone know of any good books or magazines or even websites that show pictures of how people decorated their front yards? Please let me know. Thanks True for the title didn't realize I didn't complete what i was saying. I am barely getting into gardening and its something I want to get more into, so I would like to get some high maintenance plants. I would like to get roses, but don't know if those would be considered high maintenance.

  1. You could check your magazine store for "house and garden" magazines. Alternatively. You could go for a walk. Don't forget to use a meaningful title when posting a question. Otherwise you risk people not clicking on it.
  2. a lot depends on the region where you live, and the type of soil around your house. Is it sandy, clay, rocky? Go to your local independent nursery. The owners there will know what grows well in the area. Don't go to the chain home improvement centers. Also, the other answerer has a great suggestion to take a walk in the neighborhood to get an idea. A lot depends on your taste and lifestyle. Do you have time for high-maintenance type of plants and flowers? Do you like gardening?
  3. It's true that if you visit local nurseries, you will likely get some answers and some inspiration. My husband and I also just recently bought a house and I've been trying to plan out some ways to dress up the yard (especially the front yard). I buy tons of magazines - anything that catches my eye - and look for inspiration. We take regular walks around the neighborhood to see what grows well in our area, too. I've learned a little about a lot in my "research", so here's a bit to hopefully get you started. -Some roses are easier to grow than others, but there's so many different kinds, you really need to look them up online to decide. For example, are you happy with them just making your yard pretty, or do you want to be able to cut them and bring them inside? Do you want climbing roses or bushes? -Pay attention to your growing zone. Don't start out trying to grow tropical plants if you live in the mountains. -Look for plants of varying heights to make for an interesting (and full-looking) garden. -Perennials are great for novice gardeners. They are generally low maintenance once you get them started. However, annuals will typically give you pretty flowers for longer. They're also a great way to experiment with color and texture. -Some of the easiest plants to grow are day lilies and daffodils. Start there. Hope this helps. :)
  4. you have to figure out what you want to attract, butterfly's, birds etc. and what kind of soil you have, also how much time are you willing to spend on caring for them,i do suggest using a weed barrier cloth to keep the weeds down first, and a small fountain to attract birds to con troll the insects. And would you like fragrant plants? you can get mail order catalog for plant like michigan bulbs or others call or look it up on the web and ask them to send you some books for ordering .good luck
