the water in my garden pond is very green?

Is this due to algae? There is a little algae floating on the surface of the pond, but the water itself is seems pretty clear (a clear green colour) - no tiny particles of green in suspension in it. What can I do about it? I have a couple of areating plants in the pond and a few snails and frogs.

3. sounds normal. if the water starts getting cloudy give it a clean. a few more snails couldn't hurt if your worried, they eat algae.
4. It is Algae, the only real way to get rid of it is Chlorine.By the way, what is wrong with algae?
5. Without a mechanical filtration system you could install a UV light in you're left will two options, barley straw or reducing the amount of sun on the water. More floating plants, overhanging plants, even shade cloth or an umbrella will help. If the water is clear as you said, you could leave it and tell everyone your "going green". RScott
6. Someone told me to put a 'bale'? of Barley straw in the water (I used baler twine to keep it together and inserted into an old onion net) You must not be impatient tho' it take a couple of weeks to sink and start working! It really works though. I have a lovely clear pond now.
7. Algae is due with too much sunlight. Perhaps a little shade will cut down growth.
8. it is simple. the only thing you can use to effectively remove the green water appearance is use a UV light and filter system. the uv light on it's own is not enough, but couple it with a filter box and you will greatly reduce the green water. you will also need a pump to get the water from the pond to the light and filter. it depends on the size of your pond as to what size pump/uv light/filter you will need. if you are interested in installing these post your dimensions or message me and i can make some recommendations for you if you wish. just a note though - this wont stop the blanket weed problems a pond gets. there are other ways to remove blanket weed such as chemical treatments and copper treatments.
9. You need enough plants floating on the surface to cover about 3/4 of you surface area, we find water lily's are good, as soon as they start to grow our water becomes clear.
