what is the best type of digital camera to use to create a clothing catalog book?

- A digital SLR will give you the best results. You can set it up right and you can also get the white balance exactly right, which is very important for catalog work.
- It depends on the budget, and the level of experience you are working with. Several DSLRs will be the "perfect" fit if you have some idea of how to set it up. They all have automatic settings that will fit about 85% of the situations you get into. They have bigger sensors for better pictures, and have interchangable lenses for different shots. You can get a Canon Rebel xt for about $600 to $700. Thats what i am most familliar with. Its great for amatures and advanced hobbiests alike. If you want somehting cheaper, a point and shoot with at least 10x optical (ignore digital zoom, you can do better on your computer in post processing) zoom. The problem with a high megapixel point and shoot is the very small sensor size.
