  1. First decide what it is you want to buy, then check that you have chosen something that is possible to buy mail order and with credit. For example a bike. Research the exact model you want and the different prices it's sold at in the shops for cash. Work out the average of these figures to see the sort of price it would be for a cash payment. Neext you need to find out how much a mail order catalogue company would charge you for the same item paid over several weeks e.g. in the Kays catalogue the Raleigh Airlite 200 Road bike is listed at £459 if you pay cash. The same bike paid over 156 weeks at £4.29 per week would cost a total of £669.14. You can do the same by working out how much it would cost to buy on a credit card paying interest each month until you had paid it off and the same for a bank loan. The final part of the exercise is to persuade someone to buy it for you presenting the pros and cons of each method. Perhaps you haven't got the cash and it would take a long time to save up but in the meantime you could be earning money on a paper round if you had the bike.
