Are ground cover plants ideal for rock garden/ beds?

Public Comments

  1. yes, and they look great. There are many different species available too.
  2. Yes - although you might want to look out for Alpines for the rock garden as they are still compact, more showy and less invasive than some ground cover. I would use ground cover like Sedum, Armeria, Dianthus Campanula carpatica, Iberis, Saxifrage (London pride) and Thymus serpyllum in beds. Good luck :-)
  3. Some are, some aren't. Look for the ones that don't take over the entire thing. Sedums are usually a good choice. Don't get moneywort. I put a little bit in a couple of years ago and now spend most of my time trying to get rid of it.
  4. yes they are excellent as are alpines and succulents, available in many colours and different types of flower too makes the gaeden look fantastic most of the year, did'nt realise you had green finger's wekky lmko.
  5. Yes I would use creeping red sedum you can get it at eburgess.com (cheap)
  6. yes they are succulent plants with heathers and viola look good in rockery areas
  7. They are ideal but some can take over the rock garden smothering other things on the way. Look for height and spread details on the label before purchasing.
