When's the best time to water my garden?
Would it hurt my garden plants if I water my garden during the day time?

- 1.You must water your garden when the soil is dry .Duh. 2.Actually it is a good question since you have to consider evaporation during the sunny day so that more gets in the air then in the soil. If you do it in the evening you allow too much moisture to stay on stems and leafs creating opportunity for molds and other undesirables. 3.I would water mostly the roots and in the second half of the day like after 4-5 PM or if you like to get up really early 5-6 AM. Do not over water! Best
- I would say in the evening when the sun is not so hot. If you water during the day, the sun will dry it up where as if you did it in the evening, the waters sits on the ground longer and the plant have a better chance of absorbing most of it.
- it is best to water in the morning, rather than late in the evening. if plants stay moist all night, they are subject to disease. happy gardening
- It is best to water in the evning after the hot sun is gone!
- best to water after dark or early in the morning,if you water during the day, most is then lost to evaporation,if its going to be a damp or humid night avoid watering as this can cause fungal problems, when damp or humid water in the morning, allways multch, this will reduce the amount of watering required, allso keeps soil moist during hot weather and warm during night and cold spells, but never multch right up to the plant,or you can cause stem rot, allso if you water during the day and your water has a high salinity, it will dry on the leaves and burn them, happy gardening
- You'll get all kinds of advice on this question. Here are the facts: 1. The best time to water is the morning. This provides water to the plant before it faces the most stressful part of the day. It allows the soil to dry out later in the day, which is important in avoiding disease problems. And it minimizes the amount of water you lose to quick evaporation. 2. Watering in the evening is not good. Your garden will stay moist over night, which provides a playground for fungus, bacteria, snails, slugs and all sorts of things you don't want to encourage. 3. Watering during the day is really not very harmful. You might hear that the water serves as a magnifying glass and frys your plants. Well, the truth is, your plants will be hurt far more by severe wilting than they will by magnified sunlight. Watering during the day is really not all that bad. Recap: Water in the morning if possible. If you can't in the orning, do so in the day. If you (and your plants) are desperate, water in the evening. Good Luck!
- water your garden first thing in the morning. Tlhe water in the day wouldn't be best because the sun will burn them when they are wet.
- Preferably in the evening.
- Hi, we have several answers for the evening and some for the morning for now. Believe me,the best time is early morning.Evening watering makes the plant vunerable to disease and mold, because the plants don't dry up. In addition it also attracts slugs and insects that like a moist environment. If that is not enough in hotter weather, lay down or bury a soaker hose which trickles the water into the soil without wetting the foliage.(Prevents sunburn). Only switch on when needed if the morning watering was not enough. But not at night :)
- I don't know what's best for sure -- but I've always been told to water in the morning
- Watering your plants during the day can scorch the leaves on your plant if they have direct sun light. Early morning or late evening is the best time to water them.
- i usually water my garden early in the morning and at evening when the sun goes down.but lattly i had to water during the day temp.s here been 105 degress, but during the day dont water the top of plant just the soil
- Early morning or evening. Not sure why but I've always been told not to water in the heat of the day.
- Always water between 3 am and 4 am... if you water during midday you will scorch and wilt the leaves. If you water at night some plants could grow mold.
- Late evening, when it is almost dark. Actually if you do it in the day time, it'll jyst blister your plants.
