Pet-safe plants for water garden?
Hi there! I am planning on growing an indoor water garden, but I have been unable to find specific information on which aquatic plants are safe for pets (a cat, specifically) and which are not. I have been to the ASPCA website and several others, but they seem lacking on water plant info. Also, if there are any pet-safe houseplants that will grow well in water, let me know. Thanks!

- Watercress is a plant that grows in water and you can make salad out of it. Cat tails are safe too. You can also harvest the roots and shoots. As a matter of fact check the web site attached for more. There are really quite a few. Good Luck
- Good for you for being proactive about this. I have a cat as well and believe me it is scary when they eat a plant they shouldn't have eaten. You definitely don't want to be rushing to the emergency vet in the middle of the night like I had to a couple of months ago. I had received some bouquets of flowers after being in the hospital and it was a nightmare trying to figure out what he had gotten into. Some safe plants for cats are: Ferns Spider Plant Grape Ivy Sunflower Snapdragon Magnolia miniature roses Cape Primrose I buy all my garden products from Spray-N-Grow ( http://www.spray-n-growgardening.com ), a company that makes garden products that are safe for pets. All of their stuff is organic. If you are looking for any pet-safe products for building your indoor water garden, I would definitely check them out.
