- oddly enough i own a "butterfly plant" I also have bought what are called a sun plant or something like that....and while i get a few butterflies attracted to the Butterfly plant i get a lot more with the others... i also found cucumbers also seem to attract them
- Verbena attracts butterflies. It's pink & is best mounded when planting it.
- Trumpet Vine attracts alot of butterflys, and it also attracts humming birds. But the vine is invasive, i have one. I has orange blooms june-septmber. It is really nice though.
- Butterfly bush ( buddleia davidii ) attracts all kinds of butterflies. Hummingbird moths seem to enjoy it, too. It's a hardy shrub with blooms ranging from royal purple to white, depending on the variety. Some people call it the summer lilac. It has a spicy scent and the blooms are formed in spires. It can be prolific, however. Even with deadheading I always have four or five baby shrubs each season to share with others.
- To attract butterflies you should have a mix of host plants and nectar plants. Visit our website for more butterfly gardening ideas at- http://www.gardening-at-the-crossroads.com/butterfly-gardening.html Good Luck and Happy Gardening from Cathy and Neal!
