Can I plant a Butterfly Bush in a raised garden bed that sits along my house?

I bought a Butterfly/Hummingbird garden and want to plant it in one of the beds that sits alongside my house. It has 2 Butterfly Bushes--will they grow too large for this area?

1. Butterfly bushes can get VERY large. Depends on the amount of sun it gets. The good thing about them is that you cut them down every year. So, if one year doesn't look good, you start over the next. I've found that they trim up very good. Just keep it pruned. It wont bloom as well, but should be enough to keep it pretty and the butterfly's coming. I also put a butterfly house next to my bush....so far, none have used it. But, it sure looks cute.
2. butterfly bushes love the sun..they grow huge.But..when their flowering season is over...just cut it back 1/4 or so. If you keep cutting its top off it will grow wider and bushier...they dont mind being pruned
3. It depends on how large your planting bed is. I have seen some huge butterfly bushes. If they are left to their own devices, then can get about 10' tall and have about a 6' spread. But as the others said, proper pruning can help you manage their size, if you need to.
4. I have one butterfly bush & they do get huge, mine is prob at least 4 feet wide & 10 feet tall, but you can keep it trimmed back to fit your space, hope this helps.
5. normally, butterfly bushes grow quite large but it depends on the cultivar. monrovia growers offers a line of b-fly bushes known as petites and they come in an array of colors. they grow to about 4 to 6 ft tall and 3 to 4 ft wide at full maturity.
