Anyone else having problems with peas not growing this year?
Our garden is doing great, except the peas have been planted three times and they are not coming up. I have them in a different location from last year, where corn and beans were the summers before. We tried two different brands of seeds too. We live in the Thumb of Michigan, and have great, fertile loamy soil, and garden using organic practices. I have never had a hard time growing peas before, they are usually so tall we have to trellis them on wire fencing that is 5 feet tall. Any suggestions? Its been a moderate spring/early summer with average 78 temperature, and good steady rain, but not enough to waterlog. Everything else is doing well.

- Growing organic is always more dificult but be patient.
- It's a damn shame "whirled peas" ain't no better either!
- I am having no problem growing peas this year, although we had a very late start to spring/summer here in the NW. I wonder if the soil might be deficient of some nutrient depleted by last year's corn/bean crop...try planting startling and see what happens....Sorry I have so little help to offer!
- I am in Washington. We had an unusually cold spring. I think I planted my peas to early. They sprouted nicely but once I got them into the ground they just did not go anywhere.
