Looking for a seed catalog that has been around for a loooong time?
My dad was telling me that my great-grandpa used to have a beautiful rose garden. He used to buy seeds from the same catalog every year. One year because had been such a good customer for ever they let him name a flower (i think a yellow rose of some sort). I was wondering if anyone knew of catalog companies that had been around for years?? My great-grandpa died in the 90's and my great-grandma died last year. No one else remembers this info and I was hoping to be able to contact some companies and see if they had some information. Thanks! Well I'm just looking for the name of the rose that he actually named... and then go from there. I just know it was some old catalog...

- jungs? thats one that i remember my dad ordering from for many many years :)
- It's hard to find seeds of roses now adays. Most Roses are propagated by cuttings because it's easier to reproduce them that way and most of them are grafted too. You might want to check at a local plant nursery or the American Rose Society. You might want to find their web site.
- kc is right. If you are looking rose seeds, you probably won't find them in a catalog. A few of the catalog companies that have been around for years are Jung's, Park Seed, Gurney's, Johnnys Select Seeds and Stokes.
- I'm 70 and these have been around about as long as I have been. Park seed http://www.parkseed.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogDisplay?storeId=10101&catalogId=10101&langId=-1&mainPage=gatepage&gate=eCatalog&cid=ppp000009y&s_kwcid=TC-1186-8996712011-S-44317202511&OVRAW=seed%20catalogs&OVKEY=park%20seed%20catalog&OVMTC=advanced&OVADID=44317202511&OVKWID=8996712011 Gurneys http://gurneys.com/default.asp?eid=092906GUY&sid=508482&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=brand&utm_campaign=gu_brand&bhcd2=1226151150 Henry Fields/1892 http://henryfields.com/?sid=607443&eid=tlp_homepage Stokes seedhttp://www.stokeseeds.com/cgi-bin/StokesSeeds.storefront Burpees http://www.burpee.com/home.do There are other these a just the ones I know that have been around for long time and are reputable. put seed catalog in the search bar to pull up others
- Try Jackson-Perkins, Weeks, and The Antique Rose Emporium. Burpee seed and Ball seed have been around forever, but I don't know if they did roses, or just flower and vegetable seed. I'm afraid you have an investigation ahead of you. Good Luck!
