What are some standard plus size measurements for womens clothing?

I received a commemorative T shirt that I'd like to wear, but it's too small. I thought I'd add inserts cut from another Tee in the side seams to bring it up to my size, but I'm not sure how much ease to allow for at the hip. The 12 inches I usually give myself for woven garments, seems like too much for a tee.

1. i would go with 6" on either side. You don't want the shirt to pull as you are wearing it. You can always take it in if you think it hangs too wide.
