Muslims - what is the Islamic view on men wearing womens clothing ?
I refer to Michael Jackson's recent conversion and pictures showing him wearing what looks like to me womens attire. Surely the Imam who presided over his declaration of faith/intent would have said something ?

- "Islam is completely against that. The Quran says that men should not dress like women and women should not dress like men"
- What looked to you like women's attire almost certainly was NOT. There are many cultural differences of which I am certain you are actually aware.
- actually men who refer to the Koran believe that modesty is more important to me. also, there are tribes (Tuareg) or something like that, which wear veils.
- dear sir, its not acceptable in islam, but anyhow micheal jakson wasnt wearning a women clothes. we muslims, are not waiting on people faults. let things pass peacefully
- Well this is the second time this has been asked and I hope this time more people search for this question instead of asking again, but I hope I can clarify this. Six criteria for Hijab: According to the Quran and the Sunnah, there are basically six criteria for observing hijab: 1. Extent: The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This is different for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the male is to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, the extent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the face and the hands up to the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these parts of the body. Some scholars of Islam insist that the face and the hands are part of the obligatory extent of ‘hijab’. All the remaining five criteria are the same for men and women. 2. The clothes worn should be loose and should not reveal the figure. 3. The clothes worn should not be transparent such that one can see through them. 4. The clothes worn should not be so glamorous as to attract the opposite sex. 5. The clothes worn should NOT resemble that of the OPPOSITE SEX. 6. The clothes worn should not resemble that of the unbelievers i.e. they should not wear clothes that are specifically identities or symbols of the unbelievers’ religions.
- Disgusting and Micheal Jackson is not a Muslim ;-)
