Is it to late to start a flower garden in my yard?

I live in zone 8. South Carolina. I want to start a small flower garden around my bird bath. It's all grass right now and spring is on it's way. I've done started flowers from seed in a small green house I have. It's been raining here for 3 days. Is it to wet to turn the grass? Or should I wait a couple of days?

  1. Not too late, but getting there soon. I find that wet soil is easier to turn, but there is a lot of clay in the Dallas area.
  2. It's detinitely not too late, especially if you already started seeds in a greenhouse. The last frost date in zone 8 should be around March 15, or today. Follow the weather and make sure there won't be anymore frost. Wait a day or two until the soil dries out a bit and then you can plant what you have started. It's almost never too late to start your garden. Good luck!
  3. No, it is for spring bulbs but theres still alot of can do.I think it would be ok to wait a couple days on the grass...
