I have a rooftop garden in Andalucia; what are suitable plants?

The roof gets a lot of strong sun and I'm looking for drought resistant plants, shade plants, aromatic plants - and nothing that gets too big. Thx Stuart

1. Ornamental Sage and Kale plants may do well; also succulents such as Aloe Vera. Hostas do well in shade... Irises love full sun. Cosmos thrive anywhere and are very attractive - and they come back every year.
2. ones that tend to not be easily blown over... like short squatty ones.
