Will rat droppings affect my garden vegetables??

I have a few jalapeno pepper plants growing in my back yard, I've found rat poop under them. I want to know if it is safe to eat the peppers or if any watering of the plants can cause harmful seepageinto the growth of the plant.

  1. yeah, it is, dont worry about it ok?ok good
  2. It's probably fine to eat them if you wash them well first. On the other hand, isn;t it funny to think of what the rats must be doing when the get a mouthful of those peppers, and have no beer? :-)
  3. eww. I would not eat it. Rats carry disease. I would set out some traps asap or get a cat. G.G.
  4. Not going to cause a problem, unless the droppings actually get into the harvested food.
  5. The fruit of your plants - peppers - are fine... however too much Nitrogen (from the droppings) may effect the size of the plant...and even kill it in the long run.
  6. it wont harm you in anyway it acts like a fertilizer but you might want to get traps around the garden and or some repellents or you will start to notice that you are infested
