Is it safe to plant a vegetable garden in soil that has had dog stools for two years?

I'm concerned that the soil might have harmful bacteria not suitable for growing food in.

  1. I don't think it will be a problem, as long as the dog was healthy. At least I hope not--I just planted over 100 tomato plants, along with 80 pepper plants, and hills of summer squash and potatoes right where the dog, well, you know.
